The book tells about Joseph, who is wondering what he can do for Jesus; Because he knows that he is not the real father.
A great book for all ages.

I had objected to Migi's description of "not the real father" which, while true, could also lead to a minimizing of who St. Joseph was and the role that he played in salvation history.... great material for discussion here. - Mom

One Morning in Maine
Sigh. We miss you, Robert McCloskey! I'm sooo glad he didn't title his books "The Adventures of Sal" or that would have been totally unimaginative -- *I* would do that, but not Robert McCloskey. One Morning in Maine is the perfect title for this book! I love this book as a read aloud, and as an idea book for what to do with kids if you ever find yourself near the sea. I have never gone clamming and this book is one of the reasons clamming is still on my list of "things to do before I die". Love the sweet parent-child relationship depicted here. And love how Mr. McCloskey could take such simplicity, and highlight it in this elegant vignette of family life, as it could and should be.

Things to Do With Dad
There's lots of things to do with Dad here. My favorite is "How to Turn the Kitchen Into Dad's Diner". - Yena, 8

Hana in the Time of the Tulips
Lovely artwork in the style of Rembrandt, by Deborah Noyes. Explains a (to me) little-known phenomenon that happened in Holland in the 17th century: tulipomania. A good book for parents to read to their kids, esp. in light of the economic concerns of our times. Brings attention to parents' natural desire to provide material security for their family -- but helps us remember that doing this should not happen at the expense of our personal relationships, esp. wth our children. Excellent reminder for all.

The Twelve Days of Christmas by Laurel Long
What I liked about this book was the artwork, which shows you the things that are mentioned in the lyrics.
