The Mountain Lion

how the mountain lion lives -- their homes, families.

Lynx

all about lynxes.  (I like that word!)  about how they hunt, mate, their cubs, their relationship with people.  They look like really fat cats.

Wolf

all about wolves, different kinds of wolves, social life, pack hunts.  The wolf pups are really cute, but there's one picture with blood on it (dead animal).

The Little White Horse

My favorite part is where she got to show the black man the little white horse, because he said that if Maria showed him a little white horse he would keep his promise and quit stealing stuff with his gang.

This is a fantastic adventure story.  - Yena, 8

Siberian Tigers (In the Wild)

Siberian Tigers (In the Wild) - read by 11-yo.  I never thought I'd say this, but Siberian tigers are adorable.  Or at least they are in the pictures in this book :)

The Year at Maple Hill Farm

Having dreamed of owning and running a farm almost from the time we were newlyweds, I always have to breathe a sigh whenever I read this book.  Of course, I am quite idealistic and imagine that farm life would only be all the beautiful times depicted in it.  We know it's harder than it looks.  But I still find myself wishing.

This book takes you through the season's changes and the animals' lives throughout a year at the farm.  I found out that "Maple Hill Farm" is actually the authors' home.

Beatrice's Goat

This is the story of a little girl in Uganda whose life is changed because of a gift made through Heifer Project International.  Great book to read when you're thinking of what to do/give as a family to those suffering in poverty around the world.  Also an appropriate read around Advent or Lent when we need to reflect on the abundance that is available to us here in the US, and see where we can take steps to maybe live simpler, live with less, and give more to our brothers and sisters who live in difficult conditions.

The Twelve Days of Christmas by Laurel Long

What I liked about this book was the artwork, which shows you the things that are mentioned in the lyrics.
